Selective Functional Movement Assessment
Whole body movement assessment to find the causes of your pain and direct your treatment.
The SFMA is a movement based diagnostic system, designed to clinically assess 7 fundamental movement patterns in those with known musculoskeletal pain.
The assessment provides an efficient method to systematically find the cause of symptoms, not just the source, by logically breaking down dysfunctional patterns and diagnosing their root cause as either a mobility problem or a stability/motor control problem.
This systematic process allows our Physiotherapists to clearly match their intervention to the main problem of the client. This model efficiently integrates the concepts of altered motor control, the neurodevelopmental perspective, and regional interdependence into musculoskeletal practice.
Why book this consultation type (who is this consultation for)?
1. You are wanting a very thorough assessment of ALL mobility and muscle control issues throughout your whole body.
2. You understand that issues in one region of the body may effect other areas of the body – you are are looking to treat the cause of your complaints and not just the site of pain and symptoms.
3. You value movement and want to improve movement in your body including improved mobility, improved strength, improved stability/control & improved performance.
4. You are looking for specific stretches, mobility exercises and corrective exercises for your body based on a thorough assessment.
